What is Bowen Therapy?
The Bowen Technique is a subtle, non-invasive hands-on therapy which involves gentle but exact movements over soft tissue.
What does Bowen Therapy do?
It offers the body relief from pain whilst promoting and encouraging it to heal. It stimulates the lymphatic and circulatory systems and helps to relieve muscle spasm.
How does Bowen Therapy work?
Bowen moves cause vibrations within the muscles which alert the brain to any problems via the central nervous system. In turn, the brain is activated to sort these out by attempting to return the body to an earlier, healthier condition.
How long does a treatment take?
A treatment usually lasts approximately one hour.
What does it involve?
Bowen Therapy is soothing and relaxing. The moves are delivered without force and there is no adjustment of hard tissue. During a treatment the client is left for regular two minute intervals to allow the body to absorb the information it has received via the moves. These breaks permit fine adjustments to take place which will help to reduce pain.
How many treatments?
Usually two or three treatments at weekly intervals will be needed to achieve lasting relief. However, depending upon the nature of the problem, more treatments may be necessary.
Can I be treated with other therapies whilst I'm having Bowen Therapy?
No. I would strongly recommend that other therapies are not applied whilst Bowen treatments are being undertaken. By ‘mixing' therapies the body may become overloaded with too much therapeutic information; the treatments will not be as successful and you will be wasting your money.
Is Bowen suitable for everyone?
The Bowen Technique is suitable for everyone – it's all you need!
